THE PROBLEM

The Stakes are High

The data hasn't kept up.

Smallholder farmers are the backbone of African food systems, yet they remain among the most exposed to crop stress with the least visibility into what is threatening their fields.

Climate change is making this harder every season. Pest pressure, disease and abiotic stress are growing more frequent and less predictable, leaving farmers, communities and the value chains that depend on them increasingly vulnerable.

From input suppliers and insurers to lenders, markets and governments, critical decisions are still being made with little to no real-time information about what is happening in the field.

Vuli AI was built to change that.

What Vuli Does

Ground-truth crop intelligence. Continuously. At scale.

Vuli AI is an early warning system for crop health monitoring active smallholder farms across East Africa at field boundary level, in near real-time, across several crop value chains.

We combine on-the-ground farm monitoring with computer vision and machine learning to detect emerging stress events from pest and disease outbreaks to nutrient deficiencies and abiotic stress before they become yield losses. Every signal is independently verified by qualified agronomists and mapped to a precise location.

The result is something that has never existed before in this market: a continuously updated, hyperlocal, ground-truth view of crop health across thousands of active farms structured and ready for decision use.

Hyperlocal by Design

Not regional estimates. Actual fields.

Most agricultural intelligence operates at district or county resolution that are useful for broad policy, but too coarse to drive any real commercial or operational decision.

Vuli AI operates at field boundary level. Every observation is tied to a specific farm and. stress events are identified at the resolution at which they occur and at the speed at which they spread. This is the difference between knowing that a region had a difficult season and knowing which crops, in which locations, are under threat right now.

The Coverage

11 crop value chains. Sole-crop and intercropped. Comprehensive stress detection.

Vuli AI monitors several crop value chains across both sole-crop and intercropped configurations, reflecting the mixed cropping realities of the farms we serve.

Across all value chains, the system detects and classifies the full spectrum of crop stress: insect pest pressure, fungal and bacterial disease, nutrient deficiencies, and abiotic stresses as well as general plant health status.

One platform. Value across the entire chain.

Farmers - Stress identified early means more time to act. Vuli AI puts timely, actionable crop health information in the hands of farmers and their extension agents before yields are affected.

Governments & Development Investors Vuli AI replaces lagged surveys with continuously updated ground-truth. Allocate extension resources, input subsidies, and emergency response to exactly where and when they are needed.

Financial & Insurance Services The in-season yield risk signal that smallholder finance has always needed  to design better products, make smarter financing decisions, and validate claims with confidence.

Input Suppliers, Markets & Offtakers See what is happening in the field before it reaches your operations. Earlier, more precise intelligence on stress conditions and crop health enables smarter procurement, more targeted deployment, and more resilient supply chains.

This is what the future of African agricultural intelligence looks like.
